The Black-chinned siskin (Spinus barbatus) male has a small black patch on the chin - the female does not have the chin patch. The most southerly Siskin on earth, it is a bright-coloured finch of South American islands and the Falkland Islands which frequents forests and woodlands. The male has black on the head and throat, while the female is duller and lacks these markings. The Black-chinned Siskin does have one distinct feature: a long middle claw which helps it thrive in its South American habitats.
