The swan goose (Anser cygnoides) is named for its prominent, long, swan-like neck. The scientific name Cygnopsis (from which the genus name is derived) and the epithet cygnoides both mean "looking like a swan" or "similar to a swan". It is a large goose with a natural breeding range in inland Mongolia, Northeast China, and the Russian Far East.
