The long-tailed fiscal (Lanius cabanisi), is a large and robust shrike with very long, graduated tail and strong, heavy bill. The Shrike habit of impaling its catches on thorns, sharp twigs or - in more modern times - barbed wire, so they can be conveniently consumed at leisure, has given this entire group of birds a viciously bloodthirsty reputation. The aggressive and fearless, long-tailed fiscal feeds on insects, particularly beetles and grasshoppers, as well as small vertebrates such as lizards, snakes and bird chicks. It is found in Somalia, Kenya, and Tanzania in east Africa.
