The lesser Antillean bullfinch (Loxigilla noctis) is named after its geographic origin in the Lesser Antilles, a chain of islands in the Caribbean. A sexually dimorphic bird with all-black males and brown and grey females, it is endemic to the Lesser Antilles and has an extensive distribution from the Virgin Islands south to Grenada, though its range has recently expanded to include Vieques, Puerto Rico. It is found in a wide variety of habitats, including dry and rainforests, mangroves, second-growth areas, and gardens.
