The yellow-winged darter (Sympetrum flaveolum) can be easily identified by the conspicuous yellow patch at the base of the hind wings, often extending up to the node. Found in Europe and mid and northern China, the male is orange-red with a red face while the female is yellow-brown with black lines down the sides of the abdomen.
