The jandaya parakeet or jenday conure (Aratinga jandaya) name jandaya originates from the Brazilian Tupi word Jandáia which means "noisy crier". Found in lowland woodlands, palm groves, and dense growth in north-eastern Brazil, it has a preference to nest high up, choosing tree hollows for its home.
