A close relative of the Mallard, the mottled duck (Anas fulvigula) is a medium-sized dabbling duck also known as the mottled mallard, Florida mottled duck and Florida mallard found in the Southeastern United States. The male is easy to distinguish from a mallard drake because it lacks the bright green iridescent head. Mottled ducks feed by dabbling in shallow water, and grazing on land. They mainly eat plants, but also some mollusks and aquatic insects.
