The Woodland Skipper (Ochlodes sylvanoides) can be identified by its tawny upperwings which sport a black border and large red patches on the underside. It gets the name Ochlodes (Greek) from its erratic and turbulent looking flight. Sylvanoides is derived from silva in Latin meaning woods.
