The white-browed wagtail or large pied wagtail (Motacilla maderaspatensis), with its prominent white brow, is the largest member of the wagtail family. The Latin name is derived from the Indian city of Madras (now Chennai) – it is endemic to the Indian subcontinent. It is found in open freshwater wetland habitats.
