The starred agama (Laudakia stellio) gets its name from the Latin word "stella" (star) due to the star-like spots or patterns on its skin.
Also known as the roughtail rock agama, it had an interesting historical benefit – traditionally the excrement of the stellio was a popular medicine for the eyes. Like many agamids, it can change its colour to express its mood. It basks on stone walls, rocks, and trees.
