The Venezuelan parakeet (Pyrrhura emma) is endemic to Venezuela. The name Emma's Conure possibly refers to the wife of the collector who first found the bird, though sources do not explicitly state who this individual was. Males and females look the same. Found only in the Andes mountains of northwestern Venezuela, in the Cordillera de Mérida, its natural habitat includes subtropical and tropical moist montane forests and heavily degraded former forests.
