The Glossy Flowerpiercer (Diglossa lafresnayii) is a small, striking tanager of the South American Andes, found between 2700 and 3700 meters in elevation from Venezuela to Peru. It prefers subtropical or tropical moist montane forests, subtropical or tropical high-altitude grassland, and heavily degraded former forest. It can be hard to differentiate from Black Flowerpiercer – but Glossy is larger with a proportionately larger bill and more lustrous plumage.
