The Common Parasol dragonfly (Neurothemis fluctuans) gets its name from the male's broad, arched, and colourful wings which fan out to resemble a tiny, natural parasol or umbrella. Found across tropical and subtropical Asia, it is also known as the Red Grasshawk. Male Common Parasols start out light brown and clear-winged like the females, developing their deep-red bodies and striking maroon wings as they reach full maturity.
