The Mediterranean katydid - Four-Spot Bush-Cricket (Phaneroptera nana) are one of the many creatures buzzing, trilling and chirping away in the summer night insect chorus. Katydids are onomatopoeic – their name comes from the repetitive clicks and calls sounding like someone saying, "Ka-ty-did". With large back legs for jumping, katydids are found on every continent except Antarctica. The vast majority of katydid species live in the tropical regions of the world.
