The Asil or Aseel is a very ancient bird and was bred in India over two thousand years ago as a fighting bird. The name Asil is Arabic and means of long pedigree. Found throughout Southeast Asia, it is considered the strongest game bird in the world with strong muscles, heavy bones, great stamina, and courage. There are plenty of varieties (Black, Black Breasted Red, Blue Breasted Red, Dark, Duckwing, Spangled and White) but no specific colours for the Asil.
