A rhinoceros is named from the Greek rhinokeros, meaning nose-horned. There are five species - two are native to Africa – white rhinoceros and the black rhinoceros – and three to Southern Asia – the Indian rhinoceros, Javan rhinoceros, and Sumatran rhinoceros.
