The elusive bright-rumped attila or polymorphic attila (Attila spadiceus) is a loud, polymorphic (occurring in several different forms) tropical flycatcher with a bright yellow/orange rump, which stands out against its darker back. Interestingly, the name Attila refers to Attila the Hun, chosen by René Lesson when creating the genus Attila in 1831, because these tyrant flycatchers are known for their aggressive nature and powerful appearance. There are several variants, rufous (reddish-brown), olive-green, and even grey versions, all with the signature bright yellow rump. It has a vast range from northwestern Mexico, through Central America, across the Amazon basin in South America, down to western Ecuador, Bolivia, and southeastern Brazil, plus a population on Trinidad, inhabiting tropical/subtropical forests and edges.
