Hawks are a mixed group of birds of prey or raptors, with hooked bills. Falconry was once called "hawking" and any bird used for falconry could be referred to as a hawk. Hawks include the bird-eating hawks such as the sparrowhawk. The subfamily Accipitrinae includes goshawks, sparrowhawks, the sharp-shinned hawk and others.
