The Rogers' Brown-capped emerald dove (Chalcophaps longirostris rogersi) is named after the English amateur ornithologist and collector John Porter Rogers (1870–1941), who collected specimens of the bird in Queensland, Australia. A subspecies of the Pacific Emerald Dove native to eastern Australia, New Guinea, and nearby islands, it is a stocky pigeon famous for its brilliant, iridescent emerald-green wings, a pinkish-brown body, and a bright red-orange bill.
