The red-veined darter or nomad (Sympetrum fonscolombii) wings have red veins and the wing bases of the hind-wings are yellow. The male's frons and thorax are red-brown; eyes are brown above and blue/grey below. Females are similar but the abdomen is ochre yellow with two black lines along each side. Immature males are similar to females, with plenty of colouring.The red veined darter occurs in most parts of southern and central Europe, including the islands of Mediterranean regions, the regions of the Middle East and some regions of southwestern Asia like Sri-Lanka, India, and Mongolia.
