The Himalayan bulbul (Pycnonotus leucogenys), or white-cheeked bulbul, is found in and near the Himalayas and the northern regions of the Indian subcontinent. Its head, throat, and crest are black and white with a distinctive pale yellow underside. The eyes are red-brown, with a narrow yellow eye ring. Found mainly in high mountains – seen also in parks and gardens – it eats mainly insects, fruit and berries, seeds, buds and nectar.
