The ashy-headed goose (Chloephaga poliocephala), a large sheldgoose, occurs in Southern Chile and Southern Argentina to Tierra del Fuego. On occasion, it can reach the Falkland Islands. It is one of the five species of genus Chloephaga which included the South American endemic geese. Males and females look alike, except that the male may have reduced or no underparts barring.
