The Brown-necked Parrot (Poicephalus fuscicollis) has a pale brown or grey head and red patches on the shoulders and thighs. This large, dark green parrot has a surprisingly high-pitched call and has a tendency to be a destructive chewer. Found in woodlands, mangrove forests, savanna, and riverside forests it has a patchy distribution across parts of western and southern Africa. Subspecies fuscicollis is found from Gambia and Senegal to Ghana and Togo, while suahelicus occurs from Angola and Tanzania south to northern Namibia and northern South Africa.
