The variegated meadowhawk (Sympetrum corruptum) is named for its ornate pattern and colouration. One of 14 Meadowhawk species in North America (62 species worldwide) it is different from other Meadowhawks, and dragonflies in general, because it migrates – it leaves winter areas of southwest US in spring and flies to northern States to breed.
