The tree-dwelling white-faced, or pale-headed, saki (Pithecia pithecia) are named for the male's appearance – jet black hair covering most of his body, apart from his face which is whitey/pink. They also sport a rather fetching moustache. Females are mostly brown to brown-grey, with paler bellies, and have bright white to pale red stripes extending from each eye to the corners of the mouth. Found in Brazil, French Guiana, Guyana, Suriname and Venezuela, they live in secondary, ridge, savanna and marsh forests, eating mainly fruit, seeds, nuts, leaves and insects, particularly ants.
