The Bengal tigers (Panthera tigris tigris) each have a unique combination and pattern of stripes – no two tigers will appear to be same. The majority of tigers have more than 100 stripes. It is estimated that Bengals been present in the Indian subcontinent since the Late Pleistocene, for about 12,000 to 16,500 years. Native to much of eastern and southern Asia, Bengal tigers can reach up to 13 feet in length and weigh up to 660 pounds. A Bengal Tiger canine can grow up to 4 inches and is longer than that of a lion. These unsocial (solitary) animals typically come together only for the duration of the mating season.
