The elegant white-tailed lapwing or white-tailed plover (Vanellus leucurus) is named for its pure white tail. It has long yellow legs which enables it to feed in deeper water than other Lapwings. It is found in central Asia and the Middle East and breeds on inland marshes in southern Russia, Iran and Iraq.
