The black-breasted thrush (Turdus dissimilis) male has a prominent black head and breast – the female is grey brown in colour. Males use the orange in the lower breast to impress females. Found from north-eastern India to northern Vietnam, it is always active, foraging for food on the ground, overturning leaves looking for insects and molluscs, and keen on berries.
