The Malaysian pied fantail (Rhipidura javanica) is named after its primary habitat region in Peninsular Malaysia and Southeast Asia - the Sunda region – which is why it is also known as the Sunda pied fantail and is locally known as murai gila (crazy thrush). It has striking black-and-white plumage, a prominent white eyebrow, and a, broad, constantly fanned tail. It is common in Southeast Asian gardens, mangroves, and lowland forests, and is known for its high energy and acrobatic flight.
