The robust waterbuck (Kobus ellipsiprymnus), as the name suggests, always lives near a body of water and uses it to escape from a range of predators, which include lions, cheetahs, hyenas, and African hunting dogs. It drinks water regularly and prefers the quality grass that grows along river edges and on floodplains. It is a large antelope found widely in sub-Saharan Africa and lives in herds of 6-30 animals, with one male who defends his territory. The waterbuck's long, spiral horns curve backward, then forward.
