Green tiger beetle

Green tiger beetle

A ferocious predator, the green tiger beetle (Cicindela campestris) has sharp teeth set in large sickle shaped jaws. It is a bright metallic green with purple bronze legs and large creamy spots on the wing cases. Most commonly seen in warm and sandy habitats in heaths, hillsides and dunes, it is found across Europe from Spain in the southwest to Finland in the northeast.
