Endemic to the Philippines, the yellow-breasted fruit dove (Ramphiculus occipitalis), has vibrant yellow chest feathers, a maroon head stripe, and bluish-grey face, with a distinctive deep, cooing call. Its distribution spans from Luzon down to Mindanao and surrounding islands except for the Palawan region, inhabiting lowland and mid-elevation tropical forests., occupying moist tropical lowland forests, secondary growth, and gardens. As a fruit dove, it primarily eats fruits, often swallowing them whole, and plays a role in seed dispersal. It is known as balorinay or punay in various Filipino communities.
