A rare, elusive bird endemic to Jamaica's forests, the Crested Quail-Dove (Geotrygon versicolor) has a short, grey, helmet-like crest on its nape that is often swept back, making it appear subtle rather than prominent. Its ground-dwelling, foraging behaviour is similar to a quail. Also known as the "Mountain Witch", this ground-dwelling species is notoriously difficult to spot even when walking on the forest floor, feeding on seeds and small insects.
