The epaulet oriole (Icterus cayanensis) is named for the shoulder (epaulet) patches of black and yellow on its wings. It often lives near water sources, but mainly prefers open woodlands, forest edges, savannas, and palm swamps in much of South America – including Venezuela, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Guyana, Suriname, and French Guiana.
