The rare and endangered grey-breasted parakeet (Pyrrhura griseipectus) has a greyish, scalloped breast, a plum-red face, and a dark brown crown as well as white ear coverts, a red-brown rump and tail, and a red patch on its belly. A social bird endemic to Brazil's humid mountain forests, it nests in natural tree cavities, often using holes created by woodpeckers. Its habitat is restricted to humid, high-elevation forests known as 'brejos' in northeastern Brazil, specifically within the state of Ceará.
