The white-crowned lapwing (Vanellus albiceps) has a mainly grey head, but with a white crown and foreneck. Also known as the white-headed lapwing, white-headed plover or white-crowned plover, it is a wader which breeds on exposed sand or shingle near rivers throughout tropical Africa.
