Endemic to Ethiopia, the Ethiopian siskin or Abyssinian siskin (Serinus nigriceps) is usually found at altitudes above 2,000 metres (6,600 ft) in the Ethiopian Highlands. The male is identified by its sooty-black head. The juvenile and female can be confused with the African citril, but have a darker forehead and no pale supercillium.
