The rough-skinned newt or roughskin newt (Taricha granulosa) is a North American newt known for the strong toxin exuded from its skin. It has olive green, light brown or brownish-black skin on the back and bright yellow, orange or red belly. Habitats of rough-skinned newts are found throughout the Pacific Northwest.
