The quail is a small bird that inhabits woodland and forest areas around the world. Closely related to pheasants, quail originate from North America, but they can be found in Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia and South America. There are some 15 different species of quail, all having slightly different appearances depending on how they have adapted to their environment. Quails are generally solitary birds and spend most of their time either on their own or in a pair with just one other quail.
