The blue-bellied parrot (Triclaria malachitacea) is named for its distinctive blue belly patch, which is present only in males. It is found in the humid Atlantic Forest of southeastern Brazil, from Espírito Santo to Rio Grande do Sul. Its habitat is lower montane and escarpment broadleaf forest, typically in the canopy of tall trees along watercourses, but it can also be found in lowland forests, plantations, and suburban woodlands. Its call is a series of thrush-like whistles, and is territorial during breeding season.
