The pale martin or pale sand martin (Riparia diluta), formerly considered a subspecies of the sand martin, is pale grey brown above and white below. It is very similar to the Bank Swallow, with which it breeds sympatrically and overlaps on migration, but has a slightly less well-defined lower border to the cheek patch and a slightly paler, more diffuse breast band.
