The red-throated pipit (Anthus cervinus), can be identified in the breeding season by its rusty-red face and throat (paler in winter), contrasting with streaked white belly. In other seasons it is very similar to the meadow pipit. It is a long-distance migrant, moving in winter to Africa, south and east Asia and west coast United States. It is a vagrant to western Europe.
