The hooded pitta (Pitta sordida) is highly territorial and its fluty double-noted whistle call ("qweeek-qweeek") can be constantly heard from its territories, sometimes throughout the night. It is found in eastern and south-eastern Asia. The Hooded Pittas feed on insects and berries and stakes out a territory which it vigorously defends.
