The eastern bluebird (Sialia sialis) male has bright-blue breeding plumage. It is the state bird of Missouri and New York. Eastern bluebirds are found east of the Rockies, southern Canada to the Gulf states, and southeastern Arizona to Nicaragua. There are 8 subspecies of eastern bluebird that are native to North and Central America. It inhabits savannas, grasslands, woodlands and open areas with scattered trees.
