Fruit doves are vibrant, fruit-loving birds in Southeast Asia/Oceania known for bright colours, whistling wings in flight, eating fruits whole (especially figs), and soft, flimsy nests for single eggs; they're vital seed dispersers and sometimes symbols of peace, often found high in canopies. Males often have stunning bright colours like orange, purple, green, and blue, while females are usually duller green for camouflage. Their flight produces a unique whistling sound, making them hard to spot but easy to hear.
