The red-tailed laughingthrush (Trochalopteron milnei) has bright red/crimson wings and tail - and chatters constantly as it moves in hill forest and forest edge. It was identified in 1874 by the French Catholic priest and naturalist Armand David in west Fujian province, China. It is now found in the broadleaf evergreen forests of China, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam.
