The plantain squirrel (Callosciurus notatus) is named because it frequents Southeast Asian plantain and banana plantations, where it forages for fruit. Because of this habit, fruit farmers widely consider the animal a pest. Famous for its vibrant chestnut belly and distinct black-and-white flank stripes, this acrobatic forager is highly adaptable, seamlessly zipping through both tropical rainforests and urban city parks. Its expansive range encompasses Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, and southern Thailand.
