The Chilean yellow-billed pintail (Anas georgica) has a bright yellow bill with a black tip and a black stripe down the middle. It can be distinguished from the similar yellow-billed teal by its larger size, yellow bill stripes, and lighter-coloured head. A medium-sized duck with a slender, elegant shape, a pale brown body with dark-mottled sides, and a long, pointed tail, it is widely distributed throughout South America from southern Colombia to Tierra del Fuego, as well as in the Falkland Islands. It inhabits a variety of freshwater habitats, from coastal lowlands to high-elevation lakes and marshes, and some southern populations migrate north during the austral winter.
