The Robust spreadwing (Lestes dryas) is more robust than the common spreadwing, with which it is often confused. It has a metallic green head, thorax and abdomen, and a dark pterostigma (when mature). Also known as the emerald spreadwing and scarce emerald damselfly, it is found in northern North America, northern Eurasia, and parts of the Mediterranean, with its African distribution being limited to Morocco. It is the only European Lestes species which can also be found in North America.
