The green-crowned woodnymph (Thalurania colombica fannyi) is the only species of woodnymph in which the crown of the male is glittering green. It is found in humid forest and tall second growth from eastern Panama, south through western Colombia (incl. Cauca Valley) and Ecuador, to far north-western Peru. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests, subtropical or tropical moist montane forests, and heavily degraded former forest.
